If there is ever a boat to just buy your groceries and step aboard to go racing or performance cruising, then STARK RAVING MAD VII is it. There are hardly enough accolades to describe this amazing sailing yacht.
Part of the interior, especially forward of the mast, is removable for lighter weight and hence increased performance. The photos in this presentation show STARK RAVING MAD VII in race mode.
“STARK RAVING MAD VII” is hull #6 of the Swan 601 series. Built in 2005, she was spec’d by Russell Coutts and originally launched as “ARTEMIS”. Her second owner renamed her AQUARIUS and sailed her out of Newport, RI in the summers and the Caribbean in the winter.
She has successfully campaigned as “STARK RAVING MAD VII” since 2012 and has always been professionally maintained.
She has had over twenty podium finishes in the past ten years, including firsts at: the Rolex Swan Cup, Les Voiles de St. Barth, the Bermuda – Onion Patch Series, and the San Diego Yacht Club “Hot Rum” Series (4x overall winner out of over 120 boats).
Over the past several years as “SRM VII”, she has undergone substantial upgrades, including EC6 Carbon rigging, select electric winches, new teak decks, addition of a generator and a three zone A/C system, and a new suite of North Sails in late ’21 / early ’22. She also had a new electronics system installed in ’19 – including new B&G units and Garmin displays.
Please note: The name STARK RAVING MAD, or any iteration of the name, is reserved.
