Yacht Details
Family Circus is an ideal cruising boat for a family or would make an excellent charter boat. This Lagoon 470 is very spacious compared to other 47 foot catamarans of this generation, with huge amounts of outdoor and indoor space. This model is the 4-cabin, 3-head, galley-down design with a beautifully appointed interior gleaming with lots of woodwork and other high-quality finishes.
The Lagoon 470 is a large boat, but still capable of a good turn of speed when required in spite of her sturdy build. She’s capable of sailing speeds in excess of 10 knots and if the weather turns bad, she can take pretty much anything in her stride in a well behaved manner.
Family Circus is cruise ready with an excellent sail inventory, water maker, full suite of electronics, large tender and lots of safety equipment and spare parts.
Located in Bali, Indonesia you’ll have a superb jumping off point to explore Indonesia, Asia, Australia, or venture into some of the amazing islands of the Indian Ocean!
Cockpit
Family Circus’s large cockpit with teak flooring is perfect for daily living and can accommodate a lot of guests. The teak table has just been refinished and the cushions have also just been upgraded.
The integrated hardtop over the entire cockpit is an essential feature in keeping the cockpit dry and comfortable as well as giving the crew the ability to walk on the roof for sail handling. The hardtop also accommodates the solar array making the panels easy to clean for peak performance.
Located in the cockpit, the helm is easily accessed, has excellent 360 visibility, and boasts an upgraded Captain’s bench which is a lot more comfortable than the factory original. There is also a slide-out section in the hardtop to protect the helms person from the elements when required. It features a plexiglass insert, so even while closed, the sails can still be monitored.
Another key feature, ideal for families with children or people with pets, is that the cockpit doesn’t have walk-throughs at floor level, adding a layer of security from slipping overboard.
Salon
The main Salon has a wonderful open feel with lots of room to move around. There are two distinct seating areas separated by the central froward facing navigation table. To starboard is the raised settee for dinning, while extra seating and storage are to port. You will enjoy 360 degree views of your surrounding from this spacious salon. All of the upholstery was renovated in 2022 giving the interior the feel of a brand new boat. The owners have also just replaced all of the vertical windows in the salon and had them tinted for improved privacy and sun protection.
Galley
The Galley is located in the port side hull and feels more like an apartment-sized kitchen than cramped yacht quarters. Due to the open concept between the galley and the upper salon, there is plenty of natural light and the cook can still feel connected to the rest of the crew while enjoying the large amount of space that comes with the galley-down design. Some other fantastic features of this galley are the full-sized stand-up fridge/freezer, double sinks, 4-burner stove, oven, and extensive counter and cupboard spaces.
Cabins
Loved by both owners and guests alike are the luxurious and spacious cabins with lovely woodwork, great ventilation and extensive storage space. The Master Cabin is located in the aft starboard hull and boasts a king sized bed. It has direct access to the shower and head without having to leave the suite. Forward in the starboard hull is a double cabin that also has access to the same bathroom, but from the corridor. On the port side, there are two additional cabins (forward and aft of the galley) that each have their own bathrooms. The forward cabin has a double berth while the aft cabin has a queen sized bed as well as an additional seat and writing desk. All four cabins on this boat have A/C; 12V fans; side ports; overhead hatches; reading lights; a large hanging locker; bench seating, and under-berth storage space.
Upgrades
This Lagoon 470 has many extras and upgrades such as a 13.5KW generator; five air conditioning units; a dive compressor; upgraded helm seating; underwater lights for night diving; and additional grab rails on the sugar scoop for easier water exit with dive gear.
Family Circus has been very well maintained with a recent refresh having just been completed in Bali to have her looking her best in years. Family Circus has been truly loved and cared for and is ready for many more adventures and ocean miles.

Few Words from the Owner
We bought the boat in 2016 in New Caledonia. Chris sailed it to New Zealand in November 2016 on what was his first ever offshore passage. We moved onto the boat in February 2017, including our 4 month old baby girl! We spent 3 years sailing 2 1/2 times around the South Pacific between New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia before heading north into the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and then on into Indonesia.
We set up Family Circus for diving, surfing, and kiteboarding and we had many opportunities to surf, dive and kite some of the most remote regions in the South Pacific and SE Asia. We loved getting remote and Family Circus is set up to go off the beaten track and off grid for weeks and months at a time. This capability allowed us the opportunity to sail to seldom visited islands in the Southern Solomons and outer Papua New Guinea.
We’ve been sailing, diving and surfing with Family Circus in Indonesia for the past 2 years and would rate Indonesia #1 overall out of all the places we’ve cruised.
We’ve had an amazing time on Family Circus. She kept our family safe everywhere we went and we’re sad to let her go. However Chris started a new online business during COVID helping aspiring cruisers start their own adventures and we no longer have the time to use Family Circus the way she’s meant to be used. We look forward to seeing her off on her next adventure.

Why a Lagoon 470?
(You can also read the very instructive review from Cruising World http://www.cruisingworld.com/sailboats/lagoon-470-better-breed-cat)
Manufacturer Provided Description
Thanks to the collaboration of architects Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost with Xavier Faÿ the immense living space can be arranged into three different layouts making ingenious use of the possibilities. The helm station located along the forward cockpit bulkhead improves the helmsman’s visibility and accommodates navigation. The cockpit offers an exceptional comfort, and intentionally encourages idleness. All details were carefully studied so that everyone can find his place and every cruising experience on board the LAGOON 470 is an unforgettable pleasure.
Deficiencies
There are a few items. Mostly because it’s difficult to get parts into Indonesia
Stove needs replacement
Main Halyard / Mainsheet needs replacement in the next 18 months
Roller Furler needs new bearings (owner is waiting on parts to arrive to do this)
Dive Compressor needs a new control unit to use in “auto condensate” mode. (still works as is)
Life Raft is out of service date
2nd Auto-pilot Repeater Screen at outside helm station needs to be replaced
